Republican Candidate for State Representative
93rd House District

Who I Am . . .
I was born and raised on a farm in the small Michigan town of Silverwood, I grew up in a family that valued hard work and a strong sense of faith. My father was a farmer who simultaneously held down the full time job as a pipefitter with an automotive manufacturer in Pontiac.  He was a veteran who served in the Navy as a medic, and was an active member of the local American Legion.  The family regularly participated in various events held at the Legion Hall, which Anne believes helped to instill the strong sense of patriotism that I still carry with me today.  My mother was a stay at home mom who emphasized the importance of faith from a very young age.
As the oldest of four siblings, I learned about responsibility and the need to be a contributing member of the household through family chores, helping to provide care for her younger siblings, and remembering that you were always a “role model” whether you intended to be or not. As a youth, I was actively engaged in 4H activities like the archery, sewing, cooking, photography, and of course- the annual 4H fair.  I was involved in various athletics, which helped to guide her sense of discipline, and began babysitting at the age of 12-which helped me to truly understand the value of a dollar.
Growing up in a household where it was believed that practice makes perfect, and that everyone can (and should) always do better and be better, I carried those values with me into adulthood.  While maintaining full time employment and being a small business owner, I worked to put myself through school - remembering what my father had taught me about the importance of education.  Having experienced how difficult farming was on the body, my father encouraged me to “work with your mind, not your body”, saying that as we age, physical labors can take their toll on the body.  Following my father’s advice, I earned my Associates degree from Lansing Community College (1989), Bachelor’s in Business degree from Northwood University (1994), and an Executive MBA from Northwood’s DeVos Graduate School of Management (1996).  Over the past several years, I have continued to invest in ongoing learning by taking online courses through Hillsdale College-focusing on the areas of the Constitution, politics, and history.

What Qualifies Me To Be Your Representative . . .
My career has allowed me to work in industries such as retail, food, and customer service-both as an employee and a small business owner. These experiences taught me about the large impact that small business has on a community, and the opportunities that they can bring.
As I went on to work for larger corporations in manufacturing and transportation, I learned how practice and policy always intertwine. I have learned about unintended consequences, and how a seemingly small change in one area can have significant impact to another. I also learned that unintended consequences must be considered and planned for.
As an adult, I continue to value community service and giving back to others.  Whether it is by being a host parent for high school exchange students, a participant and board member for various non-profit organizations, or serving as a Clinton County Commissioner, it has been an honor to be part of such a wonderful community.
I am is a daughter, sister, aunt, and mother.  I am a member of Cedar Street Church, for which I am grateful to have been part of for the past 7 years.  I enjoy volunteering with the local food bank, child advocacy groups, and other youth development organizations. I believe strongly in facilitating the ability to age in place for our senior population, especially in our more rural areas.  I value the brave men and women that serve our community through local law enforcement, fire, rescue, and the military. I would like to express a sincere thank you to each and every one of you for the tireless work you do for the safety of others.

What I Believe Is Government's Place In Our Lives . . .
I believe in limited government, fiscal responsibility, and property rights. I am pro agriculture, pro life, and pro second amendment.   “I believe that government should work for us not impede us.  It is important for us to keep our neighborhoods safe, to maintain great schools for our children, and to lower taxes for our families.  As your representative, I will work to reduce the impact of government overreach, to promote honesty and transparency in government, to respect the Constitution, and to reduce regulations imposed on small business/entrepreneurs and our working families.”
